Before you go to the middle ages you need to know about the knights which they are the mounted warrior, chivalry(the code of conduct), and the troubadour(wandering musicians to tell story, sang about the brave deeds of knights and their devotion to their lady loves). You also need to know about noblemen, noblewomen, and serfs. Noblesmen begin training in boyhood for a future occupations as a knight. They also protect to weak and they true to their words. Noblewomen took over their father or husband duties. They might have to go to war to defend her estate. Noblewomen are expected to bear many children and dutiful to her husband. Serf were not slaves, they couldn't live their with out permission, and they inherited they father.

Cleopatra goal was to win back land that egypt had once held in Syria and Palestine. Cleopatra need Julius help to win the war with her brother because romae was the strongest power in the mediterranean. After the war with rome Antony and Cleopatra both killed their self because they both thought they were dead. Yes Cleopatra was serious about being a good ruler in egypt because she try to win the land back that egypt had once held in Syria and Palestine.
